Want more control over your website, blog, or email marketing? You can only get so far without knowing HTML and CSS – the core languages of the internet. During this hands-on workshop, you’ll develop a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and how they work together as you build a simple website. Discover how HTML applies structure to your content, and CSS adds style (like fonts, colours, and layout) to that content. By the end of the workshop, you will be comfortable writing and editing HTML and CSS for your own projects.

Stop making your posters, postcards and brochures in Microsoft Publisher! Learn to use the software that pro designers use – Adobe InDesign. In this introductory level class, Adobe Certified Expert instructor Paul Kelly will teach you how to make a double-sided postcard using InDesign. You’ll discover how to bring in graphics, format text, and export a PDF file that’s ready to send to the printer. After this fun and interactive class, you’ll be able to produce your own professional-quality print material.

 

This workshop is for beginners, and no previous Adobe or graphics experience is necessary. It is a fast-paced class, and you should be familiar with basic tasks on your laptop (how to open, save and organize your files). Learn how to make a brochure or multi-page document (like a user manual, reference guide, or even an ebook) in this intermediate level InDesign class. Adobe Certified Expert Instructor Paul Kelly will teach you how to use master pages, templates, libraries, and styles to speed up your workflow and keep your design consistent across multiple pages. You’ll learn how to import and format a table (or create one from scratch), as well as new ways to work with imported text and graphics. Finally, we’ll review exporting to PDF and look at other possible destinations for your content (such as ebooks, websites, and even apps).

 

Note: This workshop requires a basic understanding of InDesign. Camp Tech’s Desktop Publishing with InDesign class (or equivalent experience) is a prerequisite. Laptops (either Mac or PC are fine) are mandatory for this class, and they must have Adobe InDesign installed on them. You can get a free trial version of the software on Adobe’s website here.

Adobe Certified Expert Paul Kelly will teach you how to create basic shapes, select and edit objects, perform transformations, work with type, and draw with the Pencil and Pen tools. You’ll learn how Illustrator works with companion products Photoshop and InDesign, and how to set up a workflow for moving between the programs in Adobe Creative Suite.
