About Us

Camp Tech is Canada’s most established leader in tech skills training.

Our programs are short, accessible, and designed to help small businesses and nonprofits harness the power of technology to thrive in the digital economy. We love to help individuals of all backgrounds, ethnicities and genders gain the digital skills and confidence needed to start a new career, launch a business or change the world with a new idea.

Camp Tech is a pioneer in the rapid upskilling space.

Founded in 2012 by Avery Swartz, Camp Tech was created to solve a simple problem. There was nowhere in Toronto to learn beginner-friendly, practical tech skills to scale and grow a business without enrolling in a months-long program. Avery rented a board room, ordered pizza, and hired a few instructors from the tech community to teach what they knew. Within weeks, Camp Tech’s training sessions were selling out, and a new style of learning was born.

We expanded our operations quickly, offering open-enrollment training sessions in Toronto, Ottawa, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, and Vancouver between 2012 and 2019.

Expanding Our Reach.

In 2014, Camp Tech began offering on-demand training for townships and municipalities, small business centres, BIAs, tourism boards, and nonprofit organizations. We have delivered over 700 training sessions by partnering with training hosts, expanding Camp Tech’s impact.

Camp Tech designed and delivered the original digital marketing skills training program for the Starter Company Plus boot camp in Toronto in 2017. That program directly led to the creation of Digital Main Street. Camp Tech became the founding training partner for Digital Main Street as it expanded across Ontario in 2018. From 2019-2024, Camp Tech delivered over 300 workshops for the Digital Main Street Ontario Grants program, with more than 25,000 businesses in Ontario attending. That’s 1 out of every 20 small businesses in the province.

Committed to social impact.

We are proud to work with partners that are committed to creating new opportunities for women, Indigenous peoples and Canadians from rural and remote regions in the digital economy.

We know that individuals from these and other equity-seeking groups face unique challenges accessing training and accelerated upskilling programs. We meet all learners where they are and guide them on a path to digital empowerment.

Our Community

Camp Tech’s programs are supported by a community of leading accelerators, chambers of commerce, nonprofits, and economic development organizations across Canada. These strategic partners are key in helping us design and deliver our programs, access new networks, and support Canadians and the growth of our digital economy.
